James Blake interview for Fact Magazine
been keeping a low tumblr profile recently, there was a death in my immediate family so i’m in Pennsylvania for services until late tomorrow. haven’t had time to keep up with new music, but this James Blake interview caught my eye. he’s undoubtedtly one of my top #3 favorite Dubstep producers, despite only having officially released one EP. really hoping to find that the Harmonimix whitelabel made it across the sea to my doorstep when I get back.
What sort of stuff were you making when you first started producing?
“At first I was making Mala rip-offs, and now it’s a balancing act between ripping off Mala, Dilla, and Mount Kimbie.”
i found him mentioning Joni Mitchell and Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) as vocal influences to be of partiular interest. link above, highly recommended.
